At least 10 people were injured in a shooting that occurred last night outside a nightclub in the Queens neighborhood, according to sources from the city’s Police Department (NYPD) this Thursday. The incident occurred outside the Amazura nightclub in the area known as Jamaica, Queens, on New Year’s Day, hours after the terrorist attack on the streets of New Orleans and the explosion of a Cybertruck near the Trump Hotel in , that killed a person. According to information from the NYPD, the nightclub shooting is not being investigated as a terrorist attack.
Police officers received several emergency calls around 11:18 pm on Wednesday (local time, 9:18 pm Brasília time) about “several people” shot at a private event. According to authorities, about 90 people were inside the club at the time of the shooting. Between three and four men walked to the location and opened fire more than 30 times on a group of people waiting in line outside the nightclub, hitting several vehicles, according to information from the broadcaster “Fox News”.
The shooters later fled in a vehicle. The victims, six women and four men, were taken to local hospitals. None of the victims are in critical condition. Sources familiar with the investigation said a private party was taking place inside the club at the time of the shooting, local news outlet AMNY reported.
The event was apparently a tribute to a well-known gang member in the community who was killed last October and whose birthday fell on New Year’s Day.
