Sheila Fox was 16 when she left her parents’ home in England and never returned
One of the UK’s longest-running missing persons cases has finally been solved. A woman, reported missing 52 years ago, was found alive and well. The discovery came after police launched an appeal on social media to help locate this woman.
Sheila Fox was 16 years old when she disappeared from the city of Coventry, England, in 1972. At the time, the young woman lived with her parents and there were indications that she might be in a relationship with a man, so authorities in the West Midlands believed that she would have disappeared of its own accord.
The mystery ended when, last Sunday, the police decided to reopen the case by publishing an old, unclear photograph of Fox on their website and social media. A few hours later, some people got in touch with information and agents confirmed, this Wednesday, that the woman, now 68 years old, is alive and lives in another part of the country.
“We are a small team and we looked for all the evidence we could find and were able to locate a photograph of Sheila,” Jenna Shaw, detective sergeant with the cold case investigation team, told .
“Every missing person has a story and their families and friends deserve to know what happened to them and, hopefully, be reunited with them,” he added.
