Three investigators from Kazakhstan and other experts summoned by the Central Asian country – three from Azerbaijan and three from Russia – are monitoring the investigations in Brazil, according to authorities
The black boxes of data that crashed last week in Kazakhstan are already being examined in , reported the Brazilian Air Force () this Thursday (2). “The extraction, acquisition and validation of the data contained in the flight recorders will occur in the shortest possible time,” announced the FAB in a press release. Thirty-eight people died when the Azerbaijan Airlines aircraft, an Embraer 190 jet, crashed on December 25, in . The plane departed from Baku, the Azerbaijani capital, bound for Grozny, in Chechnya (southern ).
According to Azerbaijani authorities, the jet was hit by Russian anti-aircraft missiles. Moscow does not admit responsibility for the tragedy. The black boxes, which the FAB anticipated would arrive in Brazil on December 31, contain cabin audio recordings and flight data. Its analysis is carried out by the FAB’s Aeronautical Accident Investigation and Prevention Center (Cenipa), based in Brasília.
Three researchers from Kazakhstan and other experts convened by the Central Asian country – three from and three from Russia – are following investigations in Brazil, according to authorities. However, FAB will not be responsible for publishing the results. “All analysis and conclusions that will be published in the Final Report of this aeronautical investigation are the exclusive responsibility of the Kazakhstan Investigation Authority”, detailed the force.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) called for an impartial investigation into the crash. According to the FAB, the It has 3D virtual reality technology with complete visualization of the flight, which will allow investigators to understand more precisely the variables that resulted in the aircraft crash.
The tragedy is shrouded in suspicions of Russia’s responsibility, which, in turn, claims that Grozny, capital of the Chechen Republic, and the region were under attack by Ukrainian drones. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said on Sunday that the plane was hit by “fire” from Russian territory.
Azerbaijani Prosecutor General Kamran Aliev said on Monday that Russia promised to “carry out a complete, exhaustive and objective investigation” into what happened to identify and punish those responsible.
The Russian President, apologized to Aliyev for the “tragic accident”, and admitted that on the day of the tragedy the Russian anti-aircraft defense was activated due to an attack with Ukrainian drones, although he did not admit that the shots hit the plane.
The White House assured that it had “preliminary evidence that points to the possibility that the plane was hit by Russian anti-aircraft defense systems.”
