Castro Marim launches free pneumonia vaccination campaign

From Monday, January 6th, a free vaccination campaign against pneumonia will begin in Castro Marim, aimed, in the first phase, at people over 65 years of age.

Pneumonia is currently the second biggest cause of death in the country, which ranks third in Europe in terms of mortality associated with this disease.

The initiative has the support of Parish Councils, social solidarity institutions, local pharmacies and the Mobile Health Unit of .

Interested Castromarinenses should contact their Parish Council to obtain more information.

According to doctor-president Francisco Amaral, this vaccine is a recent discovery and a single application is enough to provide immunity for the rest of your life.

“I believe that we will greatly reduce the morbidity and mortality rate linked to pneumonia. I think we will also create schools for the rest of the country”, says Francisco Amaral.
