In Portimão, a patient with a yellow bracelet (Urgent) has to wait 11 hours to be seen. In Amadora-Sintra, at least 12 very urgent cases waited two hours.
As can be seen in the SNS, emergency services have, in recent days, recorded waiting hours well above the recommended amount. This Friday, the situation worsened even further.
For urgent patients, with a yellow bracelet, the Recommended maximum waiting time is 60 minutes. At Beatriz Ângelo hospital, in Loures, the wait reaches 5pm this morning for these patients. An hour earlier, at 7 am this Friday, the news even came out 18 hours waiting in this hospital for urgent patients.
According to , the main cause that is leading to the large number of visitors to Local Health Units are the acute respiratory infections ea gripe.
Health professionals ask users to call the SNS24 line first, before any trip to the emergency room. In Amadora-Sintra, only 20% of patients are referred through the line. At this hospital, urgent patients can wait around 6 hours.
To Antena 1, the Amadora-Sintra hospital says that on average it has received 500 people per day. He also explains that patients who are waiting are being re-evaluated by nurses.
Patients who arrive at this emergency are usually elderly people over 70 years old, many of them with decompensation of chronic diseases and various associated health problems.
At the end of December, the RTP that this hospital was receiving on average 300 more people per day than normal. Since the Christmas period, around two weeks ago, the situation has worsened with no signs of improvement.
