Cultural news for 2025 and the premiere of Left in Portuguese

The Poster is back. The first guests of the new season of the program were the musician Left, who released his first album in Portuguese, and the photographer Paulo Segadães, who debuted by releasing a photography book.

After two albums in English, Left releases “Limbro” and ventures, for the first time, into Portuguese. In conversation with Cartaz, the musician reveals that “it was the right time for this album, because in my last 7/8 years as a professional musician I worked a lot with other artists and started to work more and more in Portuguese.”

As for his past in English, he admits: “My idols, my references sang in English” and that, therefore, he had an easier time thinking and creating in the language.

“Pulso” and “Violento” are two singles from “Limbo”, an album that presents itself as a “game-disc”.

“It was a concept that I had had in my heart for some time: creating an experience that was a game at the same time as an album. I was very influenced by the “choose your own adventure” books and that’s what I did”, he says.

It is through telephone calls on the album that the public can choose their own alignment: “This way the listener can create their own album”.

“Limbo” was considered by Blitz as one of the 50 best albums of 2024.

Paulo Segadães is a man with several dimensions: photographer, director, artistic director and musician. He is now editing his first book of photographs, which is the result of a three-week trip to Vridavan, a historic city in India.

“Vridavan is a very special, unique place, with ancient traditions”, says Segadães to Cartaz.

“I started taking photos at four in the morning and stopped for lunch”, he explained about the intense period he lived through.

The city is considered the sacred kingdom of the God Krishna and is, therefore, a place full of spirituality. An environment that you captured and that you confess changed your life. This dive into this culture resulted in around five thousand photographs. You have selected more than 200.

“It was very difficult to reach this selection”, he acknowledges. In his first photography book he reveals that he did “everything alone, the design, the editing”.

In his past as a musician, he was part of the hardcore band X-Acto, The Vicious Five and was also part of the group The Legendary Tigerman.
