Two people died and another 18 were injured when a small plane crashed into the roof of a building in the US state of California on Thursday. According to the police, at least 200 people were working in the furniture factory at the time of the accident. It was not immediately known whether the victims were workers or passengers. TASR informs about it according to the AP agency.
Van’s RV-10 single-engine, four-seat plane crashed less than two minutes after takeoff from Fullerton Airport in Orange County, Californiaapproximately 40 kilometers southeast of Los Angeles. Authorities have not yet released any information about how the accident happened. Fullerton police have confirmed two fatalities. In addition to them, ten people were hospitalized and another eight were treated on the spot.
According to the AP, footage from a security camera on the other side of the street shows that the plane tilted to the side when it hit the building. Aerial images from the crash site, in turn, show parts of the plane inside a building with a hole in the roof. The accident also caused a fire, which was extinguished by the firemen. “All we heard was a loud noise, boom, and that was it. Then we started running out of the building,” one of the workers who witnessed the event told CBS News.
This is the second plane crash in this area in the past two months. In late November, another plane crashed into a tree less than a mile from the Fullerton airport during an emergency landing. At that time, both people on board suffered moderate injuries.
