Sometimes, despite proper preparation for the heating season, after a few weeks our rooms become cold and the temperature in the rooms drops significantly. This may be a sign that your radiators are not working properly because they need bleeding.
This is due to the fact that air often collects in the central heating system, which prevents the proper functioning of radiators, which are unable to fully emit heat. This may be due to several factors. Here they are:
- Improper filling of the installation.
- Skipping the initial bleeding of radiators before the heating season.
- Type of installation, because open installations are more likely to contain air.
- Poor quality of workmanship of individual elements of the installation, as plastic finishes contribute to leaks in the entire system.

Therefore, if we notice that during the heating season our radiator is not working as it should, try to bleed it. This will remove accumulated gases and water will be able to fill the pipes over the entire surface of the radiatorthereby improving the effectiveness of its operation.
The good news is that bleeding the radiator itself is not difficult and there is no need to call a specialist. We can easily do it ourselves. However, before we move on to this step, it is worth securing the area around the radiator because water will leak from the pipes. To do this, use a large bowl to prevent moisture from damaging your floor.
After securing the space, turn off the thermostatic valve so that the knob indicates 0 or the snowflake symbol. Then, using a screwdriver or a wrench, unscrew the valve. Initially, we gently loosen the screw, and then slowly unscrew it over the previously prepared bowl.
When we hear a characteristic hissing sound, we must be ready for water to start pouring from the pipe. At the same time, it will be a signal for us that the radiator has been properly bled. When the air has completely escaped, wipe the vent with a cloth and close it securely. The last step is unscrew the thermostat and check whether the heat is now distributed over the entire surface of the radiator.
