The Alberto Oliveira Municipal Stadium, known as Joia da Princesa, in Feira de Santana, will need to undergo an emergency revitalization process to be in a position to host the match between Bahia and Jacuipense for the Bahia Championship. According to the municipal sports superintendent, Emerson Britto, the new municipal management received the stadium in precarious conditions. The clash for the first round of the competition is scheduled for the 12th.
According to the superintendent, the team carried out a survey of the stadium’s conditions and the scenario found was described as worrying, with the pitch unsuitable for football practice. “Today, the pitch is unable to host professional, amateur or any type of matches. The situation is truly devastating,” he said.
In addition to the pitch, other areas of the stadium require attention, such as the structure of the fences, lighting, electrical and hydraulic systems, and areas full of waste. “We are faced with a deplorable situation. We are preparing a complete report for the mayor, who will define the necessary actions”, explained Britto.
One of the first measures adopted was the reactivation of the contract with the company responsible for maintaining the lawn, whose payments had been late for three months. “We managed, with the credibility of Mayor José Ronaldo, for the company to resume activities immediately. The company’s agronomist guaranteed that the pitch will be recovered for the game on the 12th”, highlighted the superintendent.
The priority is to restore the lawn and correct electrical faults. Irrigation, fences and lightning rods are also among the most urgent items. “It is still premature to talk about all the necessary improvements, but we are prioritizing what is essential to guarantee the safety and functionality of the stadium,” said Emerson Britto. The detailed report will be forwarded to the mayor, who will determine the next steps for the full recovery of Joia da Princesa.
