The announcement was made eight days before the start of Venezuela’s next presidential term.
“A reward of US$100,000 is offered to anyone who provides information on his location,” said the press office of the country’s Scientific, Criminal and Forensic Investigations Agency in the caption of an Instagram post showing a wanted bulletin with González’s photo and instructions to turn him over to authorities.
González left Venezuela in September to go into exile in Spain after a judge issued an arrest warrant as part of an investigation linked to the July 28 presidential election, which the country’s National Electoral Council, packed with supporters of the ruling party, said. said to have been won by Maduro.
Maduro has already received an invitation from the National Assembly for an inauguration ceremony on January 10. Meanwhile, González said he plans to return to the country by that date, but did not explain how he intends to do so or what his plans are upon arrival.
