O revealed that, in 2025, 112,168 new places will be made available in the Student Financing Fund (Fies). Of this total, 67,301 places will be available in the first semester, while 44,867 will be offered in the second semester. This initiative is linked to an investment of R$774.4 million in the Fies Guarantee Fund, with R$600 million allocated to the first semester and R$174.4 million to the second. Fies is a program that aims to support students who wish to pursue degrees at private institutions, offering financing for their tuition fees. Since last year, the program has had the Fies Social modality, which allocates 50% of vacancies to candidates who are registered in the Single Registry for Social Programs of the Federal Government (CadÚnico).

This modality allows students to finance up to 100% of educational costs, with the inclusion of quotas for specific groups. To access financing, interested parties must have taken the National High School Exam (Enem) from 2010 onwards, obtaining a minimum average of 450 points and not having completed the essay to zero. This requirement seeks to ensure that beneficiaries have adequate academic performance to continue their studies. With this new offer of vacancies, the MEC hopes to expand access to higher education, especially for those who meet the Fies Social conditions.
