Highlighted once again for the safety guaranteed to Santa Catarina residents, tourists choose the State for New Year’s Eve; ‘it is the result of a lot of work’, expressed Jorginho Mello
With the attraction of millions of tourists to the coast of especially in the cities of Balneário Camboriú and Florianópolis, Santa Catarina stands out once again for the safety guaranteed to Santa Catarina residents and tourists who chose the State for New Year’s Eve. “It is the result of a lot of work. Santa Catarina had the safest New Year’s Eve in Brazil at the start of the year 2025. I want to congratulate all our police officers and firefighters, who worked so hard to once again put our State in this national spotlight”, stated Governor Jorginho Mello.
Just to cite one example, in the early hours and morning of January 1st, there was not a single record of homicide or attempted homicide in Florianópolis and Balneário Camboriú. The PMSC confirmed that there were no serious incidents at any of the big New Year’s parties in SC.
Between December 31, 2024 and January 1, 2025, CBMSC responded to 185 drowning rescue incidents throughout the coast and rivers of the state. In addition to the rescues, around 760,000 prevention actions were recorded throughout the State and 226 occurrences of locating families of lost children throughout the Coast
Santa Catarina.
In the analysis of other occurrences, in a first assessment by PMSC, of the first days of work at Estação Verão, drops were recorded in important indicators. 39% reduction in the number of robberies, 29% drop in theft and a significant 49% reduction in cases of fraud. In more violent crimes, a 39% reduction in threats, a 56% drop in bodily harm.
