The name of the big winner of the R$100,000 scratch-off prize is not known, but it is known what one of her habits was. I often went to Tiborna pastry shop, in Vila Viçosa, to have a coffee and buy a scratch card. For this resident of the famous Alentejo village, the last day of the year was not just another day. The five euros he spent to buy the scratch card turned into 100,000 euros.
“We were sitting here drinking coffee when the lady arrived with the respective scratch card, clearing the doubt, because she was still looking and asked the waitress who explained what happened and we only realized what was happening when they both started crying”, he describes to a customer at the Tiborna confectionery.
“I don’t even know what I thought at that moment, she was there at the counter and started crying”, reports a customer.
The winner of the prize lives in the Alentejo village and ended 2024 receiving 100 thousand euros. The population was happy with the Calipolense’s achievement and a confectionery customer even said that “what marked me most was the fact that she [a vencedora]as soon as he saw how much the money was, he remembered his granddaughter”.
Also for Tiborna pastry shop, this was a historic moment and, now in the first days of the year, many of those who head to the establishment located near the Ducal Palace of Vila Viçosa leave there with a scratch card in hand, hoping to repeat the feat which marked the last day of 2024 in the village.
