Sooner or later, the pressure cooker starts to get clogged with limescale. How can you remove it easily?
Limestone can be white, yellowish or even pink. It depends on the ratio of calcium and magnesium salts in the water. Unfortunately, it is not just an innocent settlement. “Limestone is not only an aesthetic blemish, but an enemy that can destroy your appliances. In addition, in the place where it occurs, bacteria multiply even faster,” warns the expert.

Bet on natural solvents
So how can you get rid of this unwanted layer? Of course mechanically, when you scrub the place with a classic sponge. However, it is much more effective to use a solvent, for example hydrochloric (hydrochloric) acid, but it is a relatively strong caustic that is more suitable for cleaning waste, swimming pools and larger clogged areas. For cleaning the kettle, choose a gentler option in the form of natural solvents such as vinegar or lemon.
When to use vinegar
Both of these options are effective. In case of more soiling of the kettle, it is good to rely on vinegar or citric acid, which are more radical and can rid the kettle of even larger scale deposits.
How to do it: Pour a solution of vinegar and water in a ratio of 1:1 (or 1 liter of water and 1 teaspoon of citric acid) into the appliance and let everything boil. If the deposit clings to the appliance tooth and nail, you can also use undiluted vinegar, which is more intense and can deal with dirt faster.
Lemon peel
However, if you have a kettle that is normally covered with scale, lemon is sufficient.
It is milder than vinegar and can still smell nice when cleaning the kettle. The procedure is simple: Cut one whole lemon into circles. Put it in a kettle and pour water to cover all places where limescale occurs. do you have Then boil the contents of the kettle for 100 °C.
Cleaning the kettle
Once the lemon water has boiled, leave it in place for about half an hour. Then repeat the whole procedure. The second boil should loosen and dissolve the hardened parts of the scale. Then just let the appliance cool down and rinse it in lukewarm water. It may happen that you still find residues of deposits on the bottom, but you can easily remove them with a soft sponge. And you’re done!
