Hidden radiator function. This mistake causes you to pay higher bills
The heating season in Poland lasts approximately from the end of September to the end of April. It is during this time that the central heating in the blocks is turned on or off. When temperatures drop and it starts to get frosty outside, everyone likes to have warmth at home. Residents of apartment blocks most often “heat each other”, and the heat from the neighbor’s apartment affects the temperature in our house. There were situations when neighbors turned off and only used the heat provided by other residents. However, more and more court decisions indicate that such action is illegal and every resident of the block should.
Radiators in Polish homes are most often equipped with thermostats with a scale from 0 to 5. Logically, “0” means the radiator is turned off, and “5” means the strongest heating. However, it turns out that radiator manufacturers and specialists do not recommend setting radiators to level 5.
What do the numbers on the radiator thermostat mean?
- Snowflake or number 0 – the radiator maintains a temperature of 6-8 degrees Celsius.
- Radiator for 1 – the temperature in the room will be 12-13 degrees Celsius.
- Radiator for 2 – the temperature at this level is approximately 15 degrees Celsius.
- Radiator for 3 – the room temperature will be 18-20 degrees Celsius.
- Radiator for 4 – the room temperature will be 22-24 degrees Celsius.
- Radiator for 5 – the temperature in the room will reach up to 28 degrees Celsius
Experts recommend using level 2 or 3 to heat your home. Level 4 can be used in children’s rooms. However, it turns out that level 5 is not recommended at all. It will not accelerate the heating of the air. It will only affect your bills and may make the air in the room drier. The resulting dry winter air does not affect well. Plants in the apartment may begin to die and people may experience certain ailments. Dry air dries the skin and irritates the mucous membranes of the throat and nose.
