The perpetrators allegedly provided drugs to Liam Payne shortly before he died after falling from his hotel room window in October last year. TASR writes according to AFP and BBC television.
Arrested hotel waiter Brian Paiz, who is accused of supplying the singer with cocaine, is one of the five accused in connection with the death of the 31-year-old pop star working in the One Direction group. Paiz’s lawyer considers the detention of his client unjustified and pointed out that he is cooperating with the police.
Along with Paiz, the police also charged hotel manager Gilda Martinová, receptionist Esteban Grassi and Payne’s close friend Roger Nores with murder. All were accused of murder. In November, the prosecutor’s office said that toxicology tests revealed traces of alcohol, cocaine and antidepressants in the singer’s body. The prosecutor’s office came to the conclusion that due to the ingestion of several substances, the singer did not know what he was doing before his death and ruled out that it was a targeted suicide.
Payne’s pop group One Direction, often abbreviated as 1D, formed in 2010 on the British television music competition The X Factor, in which they finished third. The members of the British group were Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik, who left the group in 2015. The following year, the group announced that it was suspending its activities, but not disbanding. All members continued their musical careers as solo singers.
