The ball will roll for the first official tournament of the season. This Saturday (4), 16 clubs take the field in the preliminary phase of the Copa do Nordeste. Among them, two Bahians dream of reaching the “Lampions League” groups.

Juazeirense and Barcelona de Ilhéus represent Bahia in the pre-Nordestão. Cancão hosts Fluminense-PI, at 4pm, at the Adauto Moraes stadium, in Juazeiro. Barça will go to the Rei Pelé stadium, in Maceió, to face CSA, also at 4pm.

According to the competition regulations, clashes are decided in single games, with crosses and field goals defined based on the CBF ranking. Whoever wins advances to the next knockout stage. A draw in normal time takes the decision to penalties. Therefore, there is little care.

Juazeirense is trying to repeat in 2025 the feat it achieved last year, when it eliminated Moto Club and Retrô in the two knockout stages and entered group B of Nordestão. Juazeiro’s team was in 6th place, and did not qualify for the quarterfinals.

Barcelona de Ilhéus makes its debut in the Copa do Nordeste this year. Onça also wants to surprise to go far in the competition.

Barça won the place after a good campaign in Baianão last year, when they finished third in the first phase and fell to Vitória in the semi-final.

In addition to the teams from Bahia, traditional teams from the Northeast dream of a place in the group stage. In Arruda, in Recife, Santa Cruz will face Treze-PB, at 4pm. At the same time, Sergipe hosts ASA, at Batistão, in Aracaju.

Another three games will be played at 7:30 pm. At the Presidente Vargas stadium, in Fortaleza, Ferroviário faces Santa Cruz-RN. In Almeidão, in João Pessoa, Botafogo-PB faces Maranhão. And at Arena Pernambuco, Retrô duels against Moto Club.

The second phase of the pre-Cup of the Northeast will be played on Wednesday (8). The clashes will also be defined based on the CBF ranking. The best-placed team faces the worst-placed team, with the advantage of playing at home.

The four classifieds will be distributed into the regional competition groups.
