Since the beginning of Operation Summer, on December 14, 10 people have drowned in different parts of the coast of Paraná. The theme is one of the highlights of this Friday’s edition (3) of RIC Notícia Noite.
The high number of cases worries Colonel Manoel Vasco, general commander of , who reminds that bathers must respect the safety guidelines of lifeguards.
“Unfortunately we had an increase in the number of deaths. We also had an increase in the flow of bathers here on the coast. But we always try to highlight that these deaths occurred at times when we do not have a lifeguard present and also where there are no lifeguard stations”, explains the colonel, who highlights that there are 100 stations in operation throughout the coast. .
Since the beginning of the operation, there have been five deaths in Matinhos, two in Guaratuba, two in Morretes and one in Paranaguá.
The colonel also commented on the case of two deaths that occurred in one, of people trying to rescue a young girl who was drowning, which occurred on Thursday (2).
“Yesterday we had a girl there, who was about to be rescued. She ended up being rescued by family members, but the two who saved the girl ended up, due to exhaustion, also losing their lives. So we ask that the population immediately call the Fire Department. These places, for the most part, are private and, therefore, it is also necessary for people to hire lifeguards”, he explains, remembering that there have been other cases of drowning in Paraná.
The commander also spoke about the increase in cases of burns caused by caravels and jellyfish on the coast of Paraná.
“A very significant increase, 900% increase. That is why all lifeguards are instructed to carry out initial care, in a basic way, with vinegar. So all posts are prepared for this. And in those issues that evolve, they call an ambulance to provide more specialized care”, he concludes.
