Re-elected mayor of Belo Horizonte (MG) recovers from recent cancer treatment
The re-elected mayor of Belo Horizonte (MG), (PSD), 77 years old, was hospitalized this Friday afternoon (Jan 3, 2025), at Mater Dei Hospital, in the capital of Minas Gerais. He was admitted to the health unit due to acute respiratory failure.
According to the medical bulletin, the mayor is in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit), with ventilator assistance. He performs exams. There is no forecast for an increase.
HEALTH STATUS
Fuad had 4 admissions to Mater Dei Hospital, in Belo Horizonte, over the last year. The last hospitalization occurred on December 19th, with discharge on the 23rd of the same month. He was dealing with diarrhea and intestinal bleeding. The re-elected mayor is recovering from recent cancer treatment.
The inauguration ceremony of (PSD) on Wednesday (January 1, 2025) was held virtually on medical recommendation. The mayor had low immunity and had to avoid crowds.
RE-ELECTION
Com 100% of the counted ballots, Fuad had 53,73% of valid votes (those given to candidates, therefore excluding blank and null votes), against 46.27% of (PL), 27 years old, 2nd place.
Fuad was elected vice-president on the (Republicans) in 2022. Two years later, he became mayor after the incumbent left to try to become governor – and lost.
