Serious problems and delays are causing interruptions in the police’s electronic control system at many of its airports.

According to BILD, at this time it is not possible to check travelers from countries outside the Schengen zone, while checks that used to be carried out electronically are now done manually, requiring much more time.

The representative of the Federal Police, responsible for Frankfurt Airport, said a while ago to BILD: “Our colleagues have to manually do many things that the system did until now. For now we still do.”

At the same time public broadcaster WDR reported long queues in the security zone at Dusseldorf airport, where many passengers waited more than two hours. It is currently not possible to enter Germany outside the Schengen zone, the network reported, citing an update from the airport.
