The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) announced precautionary measures for the benefit of Argentine police officer Nahuel Agustín Gallo, detained in Venezuela since December 8.
According to the IACHR, in the measure revealed on Friday (3), Gallo “finds himself in a serious and urgent situation, since his rights to life and personal integrity face a risk of irreparable damage in Venezuela” .
The precautionary measures require the Venezuelan government to inform, among other things, whether Gallo “is in State custody and the circumstances of his detention, or the measures taken to find out his whereabouts.”

The IACHR added that “after analyzing the factual and legal allegations presented by the requesting party (the executive director of the CASLA Institute), the Commission took into account that, as of December 8, 2024, Nahuel Gallo would be deprived of liberty for agents of the State of Venezuela”, and that, to date, his whereabouts and legal status are unknown.
