Os São Paulo drivers can now pay the Motor Vehicle Ownership Tax (IPVA) from 2025. Taxpayers who choose to pay in a single installment in advance, from January 2nd, will receive a 3% discount.
However, if full payment is made in February there will be no discount.
According to the schedule prepared by the Secretariat of Finance and Planning (Sefaz-SP), cars with license plates final 1 have tax due on January 13th.
Who decides pay the IPVA in installments You must also pay the first installment of the tax in January. The calendar follows the end of the vehicle license plate.

- Final plate 1: 13th of each month;
- End plate 2: 14th of each month;
- Endplate 3: 15th of each month;
- Final plate 4: 16th of each month;
- End plate 5: 17th of each month;
- End plate 6: 20th of each month;
- Final plate 7: 21st of each month;
- End plate 8: 22nd of each month;
- End plate 9: 23rd of each month;
- Final plate 0: 24th of each month.
Payment methods
In addition to paying in cash, drivers can also pay the tax in up to five installments – from January to May -, according to the end of each vehicle’s license plate.
Installment values, without discount:
- 3 times, from January to March (between R$222.12 and R$296.16);
- 4 times, from January to April (between R$296.16 and R$370.20);
- 5 times, from January to May (over R$370.20).
To make the payment of IPVA 2025, the taxpayer simply uses the accredited banking network, with the Renavam number (National Motor Vehicle Registry).
Tax payment can be made via Pix or the banking network, at self-service terminals or other channels offered by the banking institution. It is also possible to regularize at lottery outlets and with a credit card, at companies accredited by Sefaz-SP.
To use Pix, you need to access , enter your vehicle details and generate a QR code, which will be used for payment.
