João Fonseca, 18, started 2025 as he had ended 2024: raising glasses. The Brazilian won the challenger in Canberra, Australia, in the early hours of this Saturday (4), by defeating the North American Ethan Quinn by 2 sets to 0 (6/4 and 6/4) in his 10th consecutive victory.

With the title, won without losing a single set, Fonseca scored 125 points and should reach 113th place in the ATP (Association of Professional Tennis Players) world rankings.

On December 22, he had already won the Next Gen Finals, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia — the tournament is contested by the best tennis players of the season under 20 years old.

With the victory in Canberra, Fonseca has four titles in his career — he already owned the Lexington challenger and the US Open youth. Next Monday (6), the Brazilian begins his journey in qualifying for the Australian Open, the first Slam of the year.
