Initiative will increase the number of monthly services across the country by 700 thousand, maintaining the core organizational structure
The Ministry of Health advances the federal government’s commitment to states and municipalities to provide the architectural and engineering reference project for the construction of more UBSs (Basic Health Units). In the New PAC, the construction of 89 Size 4 UBSs is estimated, with an estimated increase of 700 thousand services per month throughout Brazil. These units, with more than 600 m² of built area, will allow the expansion of care spaces, promoting greater reach and efficiency in the services offered.
The project, developed on the BIM platform, provides state and municipal managers with a complete and organized model. The methodology brings together detailed information from all stages of construction, from planning to budgeting, ensuring greater efficiency, agility and savings in the execution of works.
“It is a plan that will help municipalities in the construction of UBSs, as they are within the standards of ‘Mais Saúde da Família’ from the perspective of both welcoming people who will use this service and taking comprehensive care of them, and providing workers the appropriate conditions to carry out their activities. So, it is another important advance towards better family health and comprehensive care”says the Secretary of Primary Health Care, Felipe Proenço.
For the Executive Secretariat’s program director, Henrique Chaves, this delivery “reinforces the ministry’s commitment to improving the quality of life of the Brazilian population and expanding access to health services”.
Beneficiaries
Among the beneficiaries is the population of Cariacica (ES), where a new UBS Porte 4 will serve more than 24,000 residents of the Padre Gabriel neighborhood, expanding the offer of services, equipment and professionals, a more effective and resolving offer is expected. . “A new, larger health unit and, consequently, with a greater range of services, equipment and professionals will have a positive impact on the population’s health issues”says the city’s administrative undersecretary of Health, Claudio Torezani Nascimento.
Greater capacity and efficiency
The UBS Size 4 model represents a significant evolution in relation to previous sizes, maintaining the organizational structure based on thematic centers and aligning with the Pnab (National Primary Care Policy) guidelines.
The project prioritizes sustainability, humanization and accessibility, while serving a larger audience, with at least 4 Family Health teams. The expansion of the built area, which exceeds 600 m², makes it possible to create larger spaces adapted to the demands of the territories.
Among the project improvements are:
Access and Reception Center
- Expanded waiting area, ensuring greater comfort and accessibility for users;
- Inclusion of additional toilets, including an accessible and private bathroom for internal and external users and those in vulnerable situations, such as homeless people.
Collective Practices Center
- Larger room for collective practices, promoting greater community interaction and strengthening popular education and health promotion actions.
Comprehensive Care Center and Procedures and Exams
- Seven medical offices, including spaces for gynecological care;
- Expansion of dental care and expansion of the medication room, adapting to more populated territories.
Administrative and Services Center
- Improvement in facilities for the comfort of workers and administrative functions;
- Adaptations to support the increase in the team, accompanying the expansion of the workforce.
With these modifications, UBS Porte 4 maintains the principles of previous sizes, but presents a layout larger and more functional, serving a larger audience more efficiently. The changes allow for greater accessibility, resolution and comfort, ensuring a more inclusive and efficient health service.
