Argentine midfielder Rodrigo Garro, from Corinthians, was involved in a car accident that left one person dead in General Pico, in the province of La Pampa, Argentine newspapers report. He turns 27 this Saturday (4).

According to El Diário de La Pampa, the car the player was driving, a Dodge RAM pickup truck, collided with a motorcyclist on a corner, around 5am this Saturday (4), local time. The biker, identified by the newspaper as Nicolás Chiaraviglio, 30, reportedly died at the scene. The vehicle’s passenger and Garro were unharmed, according to El Diário.

Garro will await the conclusion of the investigations and will give a statement to the police, according to sports newspaper Olé. An examination carried out after the incident indicated that Garro had consumed alcohol and the case was classified as manslaughter, the newspaper reports.

The player arrived at Corinthians at the beginning of 2024, coming from Talleres, in a transfer worth around R$20 million. He played 62 matches for the São Paulo club, with 13 goals and 14 assists.
