President Peter Pellegrini congratulated ex-president Rudolf Schuster on Saturday’s birthday. He highlighted his statesmanship and devotion to the country. As well as the balance sheet in the presidential office, with which, according to the head of state, he contributed to the development of Slovak democracy. Schuster lives to be 91 years old.
“You were the first president of the Slovak Republic, who was elected by the citizens through direct election. At the same time, however, throughout your mandate, you tried to represent all the inhabitants of the state.” the president said on the social network.
As he added, Schuster led the country in a crucial period when it became a full member of the European Union and NATO. According to him, that’s how he made his mark in Slovak history.
