The profile of the Secretary of State for Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Acre, Marcelo Messias (@mmessias41), was hacked on Friday night (3), and used to carry out financial scams.
Fraudulent publications promising high financial returns on investments were disseminated to deceive followers. Furthermore, the profile was placed in private mode, making it difficult to access and verify the information.
The publications presented messages such as: “I invested R$500 and received R$10,236.75 in profit”, accompanied by appeals for friends and family to also join the false opportunities, directing them to contact supposed “financial consultants”.
These messages are clear signs of fraud that aim to obtain money from victims or sensitive data.
It is important that followers are suspicious of messages that offer unrealistic financial returns and that report suspicious accounts.
Tips to avoid online attacks:
- Check the authenticity of profiles that make financial promises.
- Never share personal or financial data with unverified profiles.
- If in doubt, contact the person or institution directly to confirm the information.
The case serves as a warning about the growing risks of virtual scams, highlighting the importance of digital security measures, such as strong passwords, two-factor authentication and constant monitoring of social networks.
