The commentator of CNN José Eduardo Cardozo and former senator and journalist Ana Amélia Lemos discussed, this Friday (3rd), in The Great Debate (from Monday to Friday, at 11 pm), whether the presence of the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), at the head of a ministry would help in the government’s coordination with Congress.

As determined by CNN, in 2025, the PP should claim more portfolios on the Esplanada dos Ministérios. The idea of appointing Lira — who will leave command of the Chamber in February —, however, has divided members of the allied base.

In a reserved manner, he has left his political future open.

Ana Amélia Lemos believes that the parliamentarian’s presence could boost the Executive’s coordination with the Legislature.

“He is qualified to help President Lula in an area of very fragile relationships, including political and institutional ones,” said the former senator, who also believes that Lira could help in dialogue with agribusiness.

Cardozo agrees with the political ability of the president of the Chamber, but believes that his name at the head of a ministry could generate internal disagreements with the governing base parties.

“Every time a party grows within the center, the others want to grow more,” said the commentator, including that another ministry for the PP could trigger an imbalance with other acronyms. “This type of situation is very difficult in political engineering”, he concludes.
