Agreement in Gaza
The telephone conversation took place at a time when negotiations are taking place between Israel and the Hamas group for a ceasefire in Gaza.
According to sources informed EFE, “there has been progress in the negotiations, but there continue to be disagreements between the parties, and there is currently no significant progress resulting in an agreement.”
On the other hand, Blinken and Abdelaty “discussed the latest developments in Syria” and the Egyptian minister “reaffirmed Egypt’s support for the Syrian people, emphasizing the need for the political transition process to be integral and without external demands.”
The objective is for the process to “contribute to ensuring security and stability in Syria, and guaranteeing the unity of the Syrian State and the integrity of its territories” after the fall of the Government of Bashar al Asad on December 8, the note added.
The new Syrian administration has received support from the European Union and other Western countries, and continues to seek support and consolidate its position with some Middle Eastern countries, including Egypt.
