ABC suffered a 5-0 defeat to Novorizontino, this Saturday afternoon (4), in a game valid for group 18 of the .
The match, played at the Domênio Paolo Metidieri stadium, in Votorantim, was marked by an unusual situation: ABC had to improvise a right-back in goal after losing its two goalkeepers in the first half.
Understand the case
Just seven minutes into the game, starting goalkeeper Elielson was sent off after touching the ball with his hand outside the area. The shot came when an unexpected bounce from a long toss surprised him.
When trying to avoid the opponent’s advance, Elielson ended up committing the infraction and received a straight red card.
To reorganize the team, coach Gilmar Oliveira replaced full-back Jonas with reserve goalkeeper Kelyson. However, in the 23rd minute, Kelyson was injured when sharing the ball with a Novorizontino player, leaving ABC with no goalkeeping options available, both on the field and registered in the competition.
The solution was to improvise right-back Rhyan as goalkeeper. Despite the effort, Rhyan’s lack of experience in the position, added to Novorizontino’s numerical advantage, resulted in a rout.
With the result, the São Paulo team took the lead in group 18 after the first round.
