Military personnel are in the country for vacation; is accused of participating in an attack on a residential neighborhood in Gaza, in November 2024
The Federal Court determined that the (Federal Police) investigate an Israeli soldier, who is in Brazil, for alleged war crimes in the Gaza Strip. The determination was issued on December 30, 2024, by judge Raquel Soares Charelli, from the Federal District.
According to the portal Metropolisesthe request was presented by HRF (Hind Rajab Foundation), an organization that defends the rights of Palestinians. The Israeli soldier is in Brazil for vacation. He is accused of participating in an attack on a residential neighborhood in Gaza in November last year.
On that occasion, a residential block was demolished by explosives. The place served as a shelter for Palestinians who had been internally displaced since the start of the war.
In the document, HRF attached evidence that was collected through an investigation into Open Source Intelligence data – that is, in banks and sources with public information. They claim that the evidence confirmed the involvement of the Israeli soldier.
Furthermore, the foundation also asked for the man to be arrested preventively to prevent him from fleeing the country or compromising the evidence.
