Groundbreaking method allows view into the dark regions of the Milky Way

Our galactic home, the Milky Way, spans the night sky in a magnificent, nebulous band. Although our solar system sits in the middle of the gigantic collection of stars, many people hardly get to see them. This is due to light pollution from artificial lighting. Around 80 percent of people now look at a light-polluted sky at night, and a third of the world’s population can no longer see the Milky Way at all.
