The Corinthians midfielder participated in a hearing this Sunday (5), after being involved in the province of La Pampa, Argentina, and was charged with manslaughter. There was no aggravating factor, as the amount of alcohol in the athlete’s body was insufficient for this, and no restrictions were imposed that would prevent him from leaving the country. Therefore, he returns to Brazil on Monday night (6) and the expectation is that he will be at CT Joaquim Grava during the cast’s re-presentation, on Tuesday (7). Framed by article 84, which deals with reckless and negligent driving, the player, who turned 27 years old on the day of the accident, is prohibited from driving.
The prosecutor responsible for the case will decide whether to file charges, which must follow the indictment and classify the case as manslaughter, before the judge concludes whether it will be brought to trial, in a process that should last 1 to 2 years. The accident happened at an intersection of a small highway, which the player was driving, with an unpaved road, where the motorcycle came from. The place had no signage or lighting. Nicolás Chiaraviglio, the motorcycle rider, who had the headlights off and was not wearing a helmet, collided with the side of Garro’s vehicle. The midfielder underwent a blood alcohol test which found the presence of 0.54g of alcohol in his blood.
Since the first information about the accident began to circulate, Corinthians set up a group to monitor the case. The legal director, Vinicius Cascone, and the football executive, Fabinho Soldado, are in contact with Garro’s lawyers to monitor the situation. The Corinthians squad performs this Tuesday to begin preparations for the 2025 season, which officially begins for the Corinthians on the 16th, in a duel with Red Bull Bragantino, at the Nabi Abi Chedid stadium, in Bragança Paulista, for the first Paulistão round. The team is in Group A, along with Botafogo-SP, Inter de Limeira and Mirassol.
