Scholz files defamation lawsuit against opposition politician who accused him of planning a secret meeting with Putin

The German Chancellor’s office is currently preparing legal action against Roderich Kiesewetter, security spokesman for the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). At issue are the opposition politician’s statements that suggested that Olaf Scholz was organizing a visit to Moscow to meet with Vladimir Putin before the German elections in February 2025. The chancellor did not hesitate to classify the accusations as false and inappropriate.
