Czech acting star Jaroslava Obermaierová (78) she is still working despite the fact that she could have been retired for years. The native of Prague has been working since she was 20 years old, and before that it was true that artists, singers, actors, writers or athletes did not have to pay social insurance. According to Obermaierová herself, she did not pay him for three years and when she retired, she received 10,000 crowns from the state. Today, it has increased to almost 16,000 CZK (around 630 euros).
“You know what, I’m not complaining, I’m taking it as it is. Fortunately, I can still work. Those who do not have something saved, cannot earn extra or live alone, have a very difficult time with the amount of pensions and today’s prices for food, medicine and other necessary things for life. I feel very sorry for those people,” she told a Czech website.
As the cost of living is high in the capitaland according to her, no pensioner there can survive only on a pension, together with his son, they exchanged Prague for a cottage in Benešovské.
Obermaierová no longer shoots and does not even play daily, so she can also commute a distance of about 50 kilometers. She doesn’t plan to give up playing just yet, but she admits that she has already had to let go of some things. “I enjoy walking among people and colleagues. I gave up traveling theater. It was tiring trips to Moravia and back at night, I didn’t enjoy it anymore,” it added.
