“The act to remember January 8th is extremely important to say no to authoritarianism and celebrate democracy”, says Messias.

“It is about the construction of a collective memory, so that the attempt to violently seize power is never again considered by anyone. As President Lula had pointed out in his inauguration speech, if before we said dictatorship, never again, now It’s time to guarantee democracy forever.”

The event will be marked by a ceremony at Palácio do Planalto to which ministers, presidents of powers and governors have been invited.

At the event, works of art restored after the depredation recorded two years ago will be presented. There will also be a symbolic embrace of the Praça dos Três Poderes in an event called by the Frente Brasil Popular, a social movement.
