Are you stuffed to the brim? A healthy meal that would lighten your diet can come in handy right now, or whenever you feel like it. Hail can be combined in any way.

Do you know what hail is?

Peas and hail is stupid, or isn’t it? Try to return even these common and quite cheap ingredients back to the menu. You don’t have to prepare them in any complicated way, even our ancestors didn’t bother with it much. They knew exactly how to prepare hailstones, in many different ways. But do you know what hail actually is?

It may come as a surprise to some that hail is not a type of cereal. Respectively, it concerns any cereals and pseudo-cereals, i.e. including buckwheat, which are stripped of their packaging. Hail can be whole or broken.

Most often you can meet groats from oats, barley and buckwheat, but modern and popular bulgur can also be included here. Which is a grain of durum wheat, or semolina, and therefore the wheat from which Italian pasta, for example, is made.

Buckwheat will also be introduced to you in this post from the SuperfoodEvolution YouTube channel.

Why are hail cracks?

Why use hail? Even though it is a dehulled grain and thus not a whole grain food, each type of grain contains interesting nutrients. The variety of the menu is also important, and if you also like the taste, you can suddenly have a richer diet thanks to fairly cheap food.

You may have guessed that hailstones were also used in old Czech dishes, and probably the most famous is the mushroom kuba, or Christmas dish, which was served in many households before the boom in carp and potato salad.

The easiest way is to use the grits instead of the jam in the soup. Their texture is pleasant and slightly chewy, thanks to them the soup is thicker, but still not cloudy and also definitely richer. Boiled grits are great for combining with leftovers from various common ingredients. Vegetables, cheeses and salami go well with it, as well as eggs.

The preparation of buckwheat or buckwheat groats with ham and eggs is excellent, and at the same time extremely simple. But you can certainly replace the ham with another sausage, as a bit of English bacon, a sliced piece of sausage or something similar will also work. Those who avoid meat can enjoy buckwheat with eggs, for example, cheese or vegetables. But let’s go to the original recipe, which you can then adjust according to your own taste.

Preparing buckwheat is not difficult, and if you want to avoid unnecessary mistakes, cook it separately. This means in double the amount of salted water or broth. Cook the buckwheat on a low heat for about 10 minutes, then remove it from the heat and let it cook under the lid for another 15 minutes. Then the buckwheat also absorbs all the liquid.

Fry diced ham or other sausage of your choice in butter or olive oil in a frying pan. If you want to make the food a little more interesting, add finely chopped onion and garlic, or spring onion, under the ham.

Mix the cooked buckwheat and then the eggs beaten with a fork into the fried sausage and possibly the vegetables. Do not forget to stir the contents of the saucepan over a moderate heat so that the eggs are evenly mixed in the mixture. When the mixture is already quite thick and the eggs are not runny, you can turn off the stove. Serve hot food just like that, with a salad or, for example, pickled cucumbers.
