The 82nd edition of the Golden Globes officially kicked off the awards season, in a night marked by agile speeches, good jokes from the presenter and a historic achievement for Brazil.

Presentation monologue

The presenter of the night, , spared no one. Between jokes about , and Hollywood’s new obsession with Ozempic, the comedian shone and set the tone of the night in the opening moments.
Speech by Demi Moore
Demi Moore recalled the highs — but mainly the lows — of her career when accepting the award. His speech was touching and emotional, leaving a strong impression that will undoubtedly be remembered by Oscar voters.
Elton John e Brandi Carlile
The health problems of Elton John, have received great attention in the main newspapers around the world. Still, the winner of the prestigious EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony, the four biggest awards in entertainment) took the situation with good humor. He joked about his difficulty seeing, saying he was very honored to present the award alongside Rihanna — although, in fact, it was next to Brandi Carlile.
Tribute to Jeff Baena
One of the most moving moments of the ceremony was the speech by Brady Corbetwinner of the Best Director award for “The Brutalist”. At the end of his speech, Corbet gave a brief speech, highlighting his talent and important legacy in independent cinema.
During the speech, a moment of great commotion occurred when Corbett’s youngest daughter was shown crying. Later, she also had the opportunity to go on stage alongside her father, when “The Brutalist” was announced as the winner of the Best Drama Film award.
Fernanda Torres’ victory
Without a doubt, , who went down in history as the first Brazilian to win the award for Best Actress in a Drama Film. During his speech, Torres also recalled his mother’s nomination, 25 years ago, for “Central do Brasil”.
