Apple pie it is many people’s favorite baked goods. Shortcrust pastry and fruit filling (usually apple) is a perfect combination that is perfect for afternoon coffee. Few people know that there is an unusual ingredient that can have an interesting effect on the taste of apple pie pumpkin.

We usually associate pumpkin with soups or vegetable pastes. However, nothing stops you from using this vegetable to supplement the fruit mass in an apple pie. Household members treated to such a cake will certainly come back for more.

Preparation apple pies with a side dish it’s not too complicated. First, you need to get the appropriate ones ingredients:

  • 320-330 g of flour;
  • 110 g of butter;
  • 5 yolks;
  • 4 tablespoons of powdered sugar;
  • 1 tablespoon of thick cream 18%;
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder.
  • 8 large apples,
  • 2 cups of grated pumpkin,
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla sugar,
  • 3 teaspoons of breadcrumbs.

Preparation method:

  1. First we deal with the dough. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, egg yolks, butter (it is worth taking it out of the fridge first to warm it up), cream and baking powder. We knead the whole thing.
  2. Divide the dough into two parts – one larger and the other slightly smaller – and put them in the fridge for about 35 minutes.
  3. Now we can deal with the fruit mass. Peel and grate the apples. We do the same with the pumpkin. Add breadcrumbs and vanilla sugar to everything and mix thoroughly. We set aside.
  4. Take most of the dough out of the fridge. Place it in a square tin lined with baking paper. Prick the dough and then spread the fruit mixture over it.
  5. Grate a smaller part of the dough (it must be thoroughly cooled) or cut it finely with a knife. Spread the crumbs on top of the fruit mass.
  6. Bake the apple pie with pumpkin for 40-45 minutes in an oven preheated to 180 degrees Celsius. It is worth checking from time to time whether the dough is ready.

Apple pie with apples and pumpkin will surely surprise your guests. Serve it after dinner as a dessert and it will surely disappear from the plate quickly.
