“The majority of incidents are tree falls, structure falls, road cleaning and flooding”, said the Civil Protection.
Between midnight on Sunday and 7am this Monday, civil protection recorded 276 incidents due to strong rain and wind, without causing any casualties, the majority in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region.
Speaking to the Lusa agency, commander Alberto Fernandes of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (), specified that 105 incidents were recorded in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley Region, 84 in the Porto Region and 65 in the Center.
“The majority of incidents are tree falls (65), structure falls (58), road cleaning (53) and floods (23)”, he said.
Commander Alberto Fernandes indicated that during that period there were no victims to be recorded, nor were there any homeless people.
“The most serious occurrence was the one recorded on Sunday at 3:45 pm: a wind phenomenon in the Luís de Camões neighborhood in Peniche (Leiria) in which 21 homes suffered damage, but without causing any casualties,” he said.
In the operations recorded between 00:00 on Sunday and 07:00 today, they were involved 1,001 operational, with the support of 367 land assets.
The bad weather recorded on Sunday in mainland Portugal and the Madeira archipelago, with rain and strong winds, was due to the passage of a depression, called which, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (), will still have effects today.
