On Christmas Eve 2024, . Two women died on the same night and a third victim was confirmed hours later.
Investigates the case and works with the hypothesis of four women and a child, but it is not ruled out either. The cake was made in a house in Arroio do Sal (RS) and consumed in an apartment in Torres (RS).
Three people died after eating the cake, including a niece of the person responsible for preparing it, Zeli dos Anjos, aged 60, and her two sisters. Zeli and a 10-year-old grandnephew also consumed the cake and were hospitalized.
The boy was admitted to the ICU, but has already been discharged from the intensive unit and is under observation in the hospital’s pediatric ward, with a regular condition. .
Suspicion, arrest and investigation
One . Zeli’s daughter-in-law is the main suspect. Police allege that Zeli is in shock in the ICU.
During the inspection at the residence where the cake was consumed, several expired foods were found. Samples of these products and biological materials from the victims were sent for analysis to the Toxicological Information Center (CIT), in Porto Alegre. The bodies of the fatal victims underwent necropsy at the General Institute of Expertise (IGP).
The company is awaiting the results of toxicological analyzes to identify the substance responsible for the deaths and determine whether there was negligence in the handling of the food.
A press conference is scheduled for this Monday (6) to detail more information about the case.
