Rollercoaster to the Third Republic

Austrian history has been full of twists and turns since the last National Council election. In recent days it has resembled a roller coaster, with changes at an ever faster pace towards a Third Republic. Everything that was the essence of the Second Republic – learning from the decline of the First Republic, the ability to compromise instead of polarization, opposition instead of hostility, social partnership instead of class struggle – currently seems to be being lost step by step.
