Wendell is expected to sign a pre-contract with São Paulo this Monday (6/01), as reported by UOL.
According to journalist André Hernan, Tricolor was confident considering the fight for the player and the competition with other teams.
In addition to Tricolor, other teams such as Corinthians, Grêmio and Fluminense tried to sign Wendell. The negotiation happened quickly and the left-back should arrive at the team with the status of an absolute starter due to São Paulo’s needs in the position.

When could Wendell play for São Paulo?
With the pre-contract, there is the possibility of Wendell performing in July 2025. However, São Paulo can negotiate an earlier arrival of the athlete at the club.
The interest has been going on for months. Knowing that the player would leave Porto at the beginning of 2025, São Paulo’s first contacts began in the second half of 2024. With Welington’s departure, conversations became more firm.

Wendell only has a contract with Porto until June 2025, which allows him to sign a pre-contract with any club from the current month.
In a complicated season, the player suffered an ankle injury and a concussion in recent months, losing space on the left flank to Francisco Moura. There are only two games played by Porto in the 24/25 season.
Who is Wendell?
Wendell was called up by Dorival Júnior to compete in the Copa América in May this year, after a good season at Porto. He does not hide his desire to return to Brazilian football.
Born in Fortaleza, Ceará, he made his career in the south of the country. He played for Iraty, Paraná, Londrina and Grêmio, until moving to Bayer Leverkusen, in Germany, in 2014. He left the German club for Porto in 2021 and quickly took over as a starter.
For the Portuguese club, Wendell made 109 appearances, with 6 goals and 9 assists.
