The search for energy efficiency and cleaner technologies has led vehicle manufacturers to prioritize hybrid and electric models, to the detriment of versions with combustion engines, especially those powered by diesel. Furthermore, the popularity of SUVs has impacted sales in other segments, such as hatches and sedans.
It is in light of this situation that the Brazilian and global market is preparing to say goodbye to some models that will have their production discontinued. For anyone who owns one of these cars, it may be the right time to sell it and purchase a more modern version of the vehicle. But not everyone on this list will receive updates – check.
8 cars that will be discontinued in 2025:
- Jeep Compass Diesel: Due to the search for greater energy efficiency, Stellantis decided to focus on hybrid systems, which led to the discontinuation of the diesel version of the Compass.
- Renault Stepway: Considered an outdated model in relation to the brand’s new positioning, the Stepway has no defined successor and will be replaced by a new entry-level SUV.
- Fiat Toro Diesel: Fiat’s mid-range pickup truck will also have its diesel version discontinued, making room for a hybrid system that combines an electric motor with the 1.3 turbo flex engine.
- Toyota Yaris: The low sales of the compact led Toyota to decide to discontinue it, betting on a new SUV version to take its place.
- Mitsubishi L200 Triton: The current generation of the pickup will be replaced by a new version with modernized design and technology.
- Nissan Versa: The Nissan sedan, with declining sales, will be discontinued globally, with no replacement expected, according to the American press.
- Nissan Altima: The model has been out of the Brazilian market for a few years, but is still sold in the United States. The specialized press says that Nissan is still studying the future of the Altima, which is also suffering from low sales and should be discontinued.
- Jaguar XE, XF and E-Pace: Jaguar has decided to focus exclusively on electric vehicles, which means the end of the line for these other models.
