With the new year often comes resolutions. For example, the fact that you start exercising. But what if something hurts? It is better to get advice first than to worry about your body in the gym. For example, from a physiotherapist. But even that doesn’t help every time. “For acute and chronic pain, always go to the doctor first,” describes physiotherapist Tomáš Rychnovský in our podcast.

You can play the podcast not only about back pain HERE:

Do you feel a little stiff in the morning? Or have you been unable to get rid of lower back pain for a long time? Sometimes exercise, preferably one recommended by a professional, can help with this. “Pain is caused by functional disorders in soft tissues, muscles and joints,” explains physiotherapist and psychotherapist Tomáš Rychnovský. “If you don’t deal with it and it gets worse, you need to discuss it with a doctor.

Straight to the doctor

If you suffer from an illness that impairs your mobility or causes persistent pain, you should always discuss any deterioration with your treating physician first. Take it as the fact that together with you, they understand your body best, especially when it comes to a long-term condition – caused by arthritis or otherwise dysfunctional joints.

So if something changes, don’t wait for anything and make an appointment with the doctor right away. “Of course, you won’t come to us with severe arthrosis expecting that we will heal it,” says the expert. “But thanks to exercise, the body can function better and you can be more satisfied with yourself.

Do not rush unnecessarily after the operation

Fracture or any surgery. Both are of course followed by a period of recovery. They will definitely teach you about the basic one when you are fired. And maybe they will recommend a few exercises that you can do yourself.

He advises on working with scars. But they will probably recommend light walks first. However, it is better to wait until your doctor allows you to do physiotherapy. Don’t be afraid to ask her about it though. “Conditions after surgery absolutely require the tension in the tissues to be normalized. At that moment, exercise is very appropriate,” recommends the expert.

Exercise. Even so.

In both previous situations, at least a little targeted movement always pays off. And even if you’ve been neglecting yourself for a long time, it doesn’t mean that exercise can’t help you at all. Consult with the treating specialist and find the best proven physical therapist as soon as they allow you. “There is always hope to improve and relieve the situation caused by a serious illness. At least partially,” says Tomáš Rychnovský.
