Crispy bread from the pot. Stays fresh for a long time

Pot bread is a simple way to make delicious, homemade bread. Baking it in a pot gives the loaf a nice, regular shape thanks to the high temperature the skin browns nicely and remains crispy. Bread tastes delicious in any form, even the most basic one – slices spread with butter. An additional advantage is that You can bake it with just 5 ingredients.

Ingredients:

  • 500 g of wheat flour,
  • 10 g of fresh yeast,
  • a teaspoon of sugar,
  • 1.5 teaspoons of salt,
  • 350 ml of warm water.

How to do it:

Prepare the leaven. In a small bowl, mix the crushed yeast with warm water (approx. 80 ml) and sugar. Set aside to start working (approx. 15 minutes).

Get to work on the cake. Mix the sifted flour and salt in a large bowl, then add the foaming leaven and the rest of the water. Mix with a spoon until a sticky, uniform dough is formed. Cover the bowl with a cloth and set aside in a warm place for approx. 40-60 minutes. After this time, place the dough on a floured board. Knead by folding inwards several times, then sprinkle with flour, cover with a cloth and set aside for about 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, place a large cast-iron pot with a lid in the oven preheated to 210-220°C and leave for about 20-30 minutes. Carefully remove the pot from the oven, grease the inside with oil and carefully transfer the dough. Cover the pot with a lid and put in the oven for about 30 minutes. Perform all these activities very carefully so as not to burn yourself. After this time, remove the cover and bake the bread for another 20 minutes until a nice, baked crust is achieved.

Remove the pot with bread from the oven and leave to cool. Then remove the loaf from the dish and let it cool completely. Bread from the pot stays fresh for a very long timebut it’s best to keep it in a cotton bag or paper and a closed container.
