Social worker Esmeralda Queiroz, 51 years old, is intubated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Rio Branco’s Emergency Room, after suddenly feeling unwell while working at the Department of the Environment.
Esmeralda, who was apparently normal, was taken by surprise by a severe headache and began to feel very ill. Co-workers rescued her and quickly took her to the hospital, where she could no longer speak and lost consciousness.
Esmeralda is the wife of former federal deputy Fernando Melo, one of the most renowned lawyers in Acre. In an interview with the ContilNet website, Fernando said that his wife was very well the night before, and that she even cooked for him.
“She was very well, she cooked for me the night before and didn’t complain about anything. Unfortunately, she had an ischemic stroke and is in a very serious condition in the Emergency Room”, lamented the lawyer.
Fernando also highlighted the quality of care received by his wife at the health unit. “I am very grateful for the excellent care they gave my wife at this very difficult time,” he said, highlighting the importance of medical support at such a delicate time.
Esmeralda’s community and friends mobilized in prayers and messages of support, wishing a speedy recovery for the social worker, who has always been admired for her work and dedication. Esmeraldo’s situation continues to be closely monitored by doctors, while the family is expected to receive the first medical report this Tuesday morning (6).
