GNR seizes 93.6 kilos of hashish along the Algarve coast

The Republican National Guard (), through the Coastal and Border Control Unit (UCCF) and the Faro Territorial Command, carried out on the 6th and 7th of January an intensified patrolling operation along the Algarve coast, which resulted in the seizure of 93.6 kilos of hashish.

These actions were reinforced due to the worsening of weather conditions at the beginning of the year, with the aim of monitoring and responding to possible storms on the seafront.

On January 6, soldiers from the Portimão Coastal Control Sub-Detachment located a bundle of burlap with narcotics on Rebolos/Burgau beach. On the same day, another complaint took the Portimão Territorial Detachment to Mareta/Sagres beach, where a second bundle was found, accompanied by a jerry can with 25 liters of fuel.

On January 7th, on Vale de Lapa/Lagoa beach, several packages were identified next to the surf, also containing hashish.

The operation included effective coordination between the UCCF and the Faro Territorial Command, involving land and sea patrolling in the most critical coastal areas. The action prevented the narcotic product from being introduced into the illicit market, reinforcing security in the Algarve region.
