After two seasons, Thaciano is leaving Bahia. The player has advanced negotiations with Santos and should present himself to the São Paulo club in the next few days. This Tuesday (7), coach Pedro Caixinha confirmed the midfielder’s arrival at Peixe and praised the tricolor athlete.
During the official presentation, Caixinha praised Thaciano’s versatility and stated that the player will raise the quality of the Santos squad.
“Thaciano can play in different positions. He can play in internal space, on the wings, as a false 9. He will bring experience, quality and versatility. But you have to train hard like everyone else. It’s a competitive team. We have two players per position and the ones who work best are the ones who will have the opportunity. One motivates the other to be stronger”, explained the Portuguese.
Santos’ negotiation for Thaciano is worth around 4.5 million euros (around R$32 million). Peixe proposed to pay part of the amount and deduct the remainder of what Bahia still owes for the purchase of Jean Lucas, made last season.
In addition to the high figure presented by Santos to Bahia, the salary presented by the black and white team for Thaciano was fundamental in the negotiation. The number 16 has two spells with the tricolor. The first was in 2021, when they won the Copa do Nordeste. In 2023, he returned to the club, this time permanently after being bought from Grêmio.
Thaciano has always been an important player in Bahia, and last year he was moved to attack by Rogério Ceni. The versatile player finished the season as the team’s top scorer, with 15 goals. Among the most important goals, he opened the scoring in the 2-0 victory over Atlético-GO, which guaranteed a place in the Copa Libertadores.
