The fire on the second floor of a building on Avenida Dom Sebastião, in Costa da Caparica, resulted in five victims, two deaths and three minor injuries due to smoke inhalation.
Two people died and three were injured following a fire in a building in Costa da Caparica, in the municipality of Almada, district of Setúbal, a Civil Protection source told Lusa this Monday.
The alert was given at 7:02 pm today, for a fire on the second floor of a building on Avenida Dom Sebastião in Costa da Caparica, which was declared extinguished at 8:02 pm, said a source from the Sub-regional Command of the Setúbal Peninsula.
The same source explained that the fire resulted in five victims, two dead and three slightly injured due to smoke inhalation. The slightly injured were transported to a hospital unit, he added.
The Sub-regional Command of the Setúbal Peninsula said it does not yet know whether the incident resulted in people being displaced.
Lusa tried to obtain more information from the GNR but it has not been possible so far.
Firefighters from Cacilhas, Almada, Trafaria and Seixal were deployed to the location, as well as from INEM, GNR and the municipality of Almada, totaling 30 operational personnel, supported by 13 vehicles.
